The Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada (ISMP Canada)
is seeking an experienced licensed pharmacist
who is looking for an exciting opportunity in medication safety. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of medication systems, including both operational and clinical processes, in a
community pharmacy
setting. Candidates will also have demonstrated experience in medication safety initiatives related to analyzing medication incidents; developing and implementing medication error reduction strategies; and developing policies and procedures to improve aspects of medication safety.
The successful candidate's primary role will be to support the growth of the Consumer Reporting and Learning Program through receiving and analyzing medication error reports from consumers. The Medication Safety Specialist will also support the development of appropriate educational outputs based on data analysis; promote awareness and use of the Consumer Reporting program (MedError.ca); and collaboratively develop appropriate engagement and educational content specifically for consumers.
Requirements
Current licensure as a pharmacist in a Canadian province/territory, with a minimum of 5 years delivering care in the community pharmacy setting.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures in the community pharmacy setting.
Experience collaborating in, or leading, the development, implementation, and evaluation of medication safety quality improvement initiatives.
Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills with a strength in creating emotional and social connections with patients/caregivers and health care providers.
Excellent written communication skills.
Strong organizational, time management and priority setting abilities.
Fluency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., MS 365) and the Zoom platform.
Ability to work independently and as part of an in-person and/or virtual team.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience in patient and family engagement strategies.
Experience in other clinical pharmacy settings (e.g., acute care, long-term care, home care).
Knowledge of accreditation and licensing requirements and professional practice standards.
Oral and/or written French language fluency.
