The Institute for Safe Medication Practices Canada (ISMP Canada)
is seeking an experienced licensed pharmacy technician
who is looking for an exciting opportunity in medication safety.?The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of operational processes and medication systems in a
community pharmacy
setting. Candidates will also have demonstrated experience in medication safety initiatives related to analyzing medication incidents; developing and implementing medication error reduction strategies; and developing policies and procedures to improve aspects of medication safety.
The successful candidate's primary role will be to support the growth of the Community Pharmacy Reporting and Learning Program through communications with pharmacy representatives and analyzing reported medication incidents. The analyst will also contribute to the maintenance and development of medication safety resources as a member of the ISMP Canada Community Pharmacy Team. This will include advancing collaborative activities with national and provincial organizations/agencies/stakeholders.
Requirements
Current licensure as a pharmacy technician in a Canadian province/territory.
Minimum of 5 years experience in a community pharmacy setting in Canada.
Knowledge of standard operating procedures in the community pharmacy setting.
Knowledge of pharmacy dispensing software systems
Demonstrated technical aptitude with a willingness and ability to learn new digital tools/platforms
Experience collaborating in, or leading, the development, implementation and evaluation of medication safety quality improvement initiatives.
Excellent written and verbal/presentation communication skills.
Strong organizational, time management and priority setting abilities.
Fluency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., MS 365,) and Zoom.
Ability to work independently and as part of an in-person and/or virtual team.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Experience in additional pharmacy settings (e.g., hospital/acute care, long-term care, home care).
Knowledge of accreditation and licensing requirements and professional practice standards.
Oral and/or written French language fluency.
