The Medical Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe transportation services in our community between health care facilities or from hospitals to home. They are also responsible for the transportation of a range of products including but not limited to mail, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, medical equipment, food, and linen. Partnering with other Maggie Willier Wellness Centre departments utilizing all resources and a shared care model where applicable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide safe, and reliable transportation of medical clients and materials using a combination of customer service, communication, and defensive driving skills.
Operating and maintaining Driftpile Cree Nation vehicles in a safe and appropriate manner. Submit reports of vehicle maintenance logbook entries, vehicle Circle Checks, and mileage.
Assist passengers with all their needs politely and attentively including carrying baggage, assisting in and out of the vehicle, assisting with seat belts, and other items as required. Ensure all passengers abide by safety laws and are respectful of their fellow passengers.
Load vehicle in an efficient and organized manner to minimize damage to parts and speed up deliveries. Ensure correct loading of vehicles in compliance with safety regulations.
Submit incident reports to appropriate departments.
Responsible for coordinating vehicle maintenance proactively.
Fully comply with all Maggie Willier Wellness Centre & Driftpile Cree Nation policies, procedures, health safety, and PPE protocols - including the fitness for duty policy stipulating zero-tolerance for being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
May be required to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
The Medical Transportation Driver is a key team member and may be asked to carry out other duties and activities related to the effectiveness and the successful implementation of the MWWC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School diploma, or GED.
Mandatory valid class 4 driver's license, with clean 3-year driver abstract.
Completion of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate is considered an asset.
Commercial and Defensive driving training and experience is considered an asset.
Certified in First Aid and WHMIS is considered an asset.
Ability to understand and follow instructions and guidelines.
Knowledgeable of all Provincial and Federal driving requirements, rules, and regulations
Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Comprehensive knowledge of First Nations people, values, and culture.
Demonstrate professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Fluency in Cree is considered an assist.
Criminal, Vulnerable and Child Intervention Record checks are required for this position.
