Provides technical expertise in the Flow Cytometry area of the laboratory and acts as a technical resource person for staff
Assists and supports the Operations Leader in the smooth running of the day-to-day operations of the laboratory
Prioritizes and monitors workload and workflow to ensure timely reporting of STAT and routine results
Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
Demonstrated commitment to continue advanced education in Flow Cytometry
Responsible for the provision of quality management, by ensuring and verifying that Quality Control and Accreditation Canada standards are met
Responsible for equipment operation, maintenance and repair; ensuring that all equipment preventive maintenance is performed and documented
Performs evaluation and validation of new instrumentation and methodologies and is responsible for the implementation once selected
Provides teaching and technical direction to technologists, residents, and all applicable staff
Performs troubleshooting for equipment malfunctions, non-conforming quality control, and anomalous test results
Participates in the development of policies, processes, and procedures using guidelines established by Accreditation Canada and other applicable regulatory bodies
Collects and analyzes data to prepare various reports as required
Assists the Operations Leader in staff schedules to provide coverage for routine bench rotational shifts, weekends, on-call and vacation
Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be currently registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)
Must have minimum 4 years recent experience in the following areas in Haematology: Flow cytometry.
Must be proficient and demonstrate expertise in the area of Flow Cytometry
Completion of a series of advanced courses in Flow Cytometry preferred
Bachelors of Science degree preferred
Experience in quality principles, teaching, research/development are an asset
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education is an asset
Must be able to work independently and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Must demonstrate competence in problem-solving and decision-making
Must be a team player able to work cooperatively with other team members
Must be committed to the Hospital's mission and values
Must have an excellent attendance record
HOURS OF WORK
: Must be willing and able to work all shifts on days, evening, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
