about the role:
The Medical Secretary will report to the Manager, Health Information & Privacy Officer and will provide medical secretarial support to providers and clients of the Centre. The successful candidate must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment throughout the departments at the Centre, which can at times become chaotic, and be able to maintain perspective and a willingness to assist clients who may present challenges.

day to day responsibilities:
The Medical Secretary's job responsibilities include but are not limited to updating client EMR charts upon client arrival, booking appointments, complete external and internal referrals using EMR and other digital health tools, process digital faxes and scan paper documents into the client EMR charts in a timely manner as per Sherbourne Health Centre protocols for maintaining data integrity/accuracy.
To thrive in this role, you'll need
education/experience:
Completion of a Medical Secretary Diploma and a minimum of two years medical secretarial experience is required or equivalent.
Experience/interest in working with communities facing barriers to accessing health care due to poverty, social isolation, homelessness, homophobia/transphobia, racism, classism, mental health and/or substance use challenges.
skills and abilities:
Demonstrated accurate data entry speed of 50 wpm
Proven superior customer service skills
Ability to work or have experience dealing with difficult people in a fast-paced environment
Technical competence in the operation of standard office equipment - fax, photocopier, scanner - and software (email, MS 365)
Electronic Medical Records Applications experience is a definite asset, specifically Accuro.
