We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team in Fort McMurray. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the front desk operations, providing exceptional patient service, and ensuring the smooth flow of administrative tasks within the medical office. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in various electronic health record systems. Duties
Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression of the clinic
Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations using EMR systems such as Accuro, Medeo, EPIC (Connect Care) and JaneApp
Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
Verify patient insurance information and handle medical billing and collections efficiently while maintaining patient confidentiality
Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ensure proper documentation review
Perform clerical duties including filing, typing, and other administrative tasks as needed
Provide administrative support to medical staff as needed, ensuring effective communication between patients and healthcare providers
Handle inquiries regarding medical services and provide information about clinic policies and procedures
Coordinate with healthcare staff to ensure smooth patient flow
Manage office supplies and maintain a clean, organized reception area
Open or close the clinic daily - position includes key holder responsibilities
Requirements
Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role within a medical or dental office is preferred
Familiarity with EHR systems such as Accuro, Medeo, EPIC (Connect Care) and JaneApp, or similar platforms is highly desirable
Knowledge of medical terminology
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Self-motivated with initiative to independently research and fill knowledge gaps as needed
Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients and staff
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced medical environment
Strong organizational skills with prior experience in office management or administrative support preferred
Professional appearance and demeanor
Demonstrates reliability and punctuality with consistent attendance
Clear criminal record check within the last 6 months
