Your Opportunity:

This is a permanent posting for a clinical medical physicist. This position is to provide the support of a certified (MCCPM or DABR) medical physicist for the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre, through a mix of remote and on-site support. The position may be located at another cancer centre in the province providing radiation therapy (Lethbridge, Calgary, Red Deer, or Edmonton) for remote work, and will travel to Grande Prairie at a frequency and duration determined by local clinical need, or as negotiated. Once sufficient full time on-site GPCC physics support is hired, the remote physicist may permanently join the staff of the cancer centre they\'ve been working remotely from. Note that both a directed residency and a directed bridging program are being put in place to ensure future on site staffing. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

This position will assist / carry all the usual duties of a clinical medical physicist, including oversight / design of the quality assurance program, implementation of new treatment or planning techniques, quality checks on the radiation treatment planning process, assisting in the drafting, implementation, and review of policy as needed, and assisting where required with the radiation safety program.

Required Qualifications:

MSc or PhD in medical physics, and clinical residency, both from CAMPEP accredited programs. Must possess certification from CCPM(M) or ABR(D; all three parts)
Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge in Radiation Physics, Radiation Dosimetry, Principles of Imaging, Radiation Protection, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Radiation Biology, Radiation Measurement Techniques and Instrumentation, and Clinical Oncologic Imaging and Radiation Oncology. Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory as well as excellent general computer skills including MS Office (including Excel, Word, Power Point) Experience as radiation safety officer, computer and network administration, computer coding experience all a plus. Experience with Eclipse, ARIA-RO, TrueBeam accelerators, myQA, QATrack+, Limbus AI, MATLAB, and SunCheck software all desirable.

General measurement and error analysis skills; adaptability and ability to work independently and as an effective team member; ability to work effectively with scientific and medical professionals, all members of the multidisciplinary health care team; well organized, efficient and able to meet competing priorities; good presentation skills
