Radius Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) are a vital component of the Team Based care at Radius. Clinical teams of nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, medical office assistants, outreach workers, health advocates, mental health therapists, and other professionals offer comprehensive, wrap-around care to Edmonton's most marginalized population. MOAs fulfill vital roles within the organization.
Job Summary
The MOA in this position works as part of a multidisciplinary team that provides assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation services for clients who have, or are at risk, for sexually transmitted or blood borne infections (STBBI). The MOA helps to support the team by providing essential administrative support. This position involves working in a variety of settings, including Radius' main clinic and other program sites, as well as community outreach locations. During community outreach clients will be engaged wherever those in need of services may congregate (community drop-in centres, shelters, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Work in an interdisciplinary team to provide medical supports in a community outreach capacity
Check in patients and update patient information, take vital signs if requested by team lead, chaperone appointments as needed
Be proficient with operating Radius' electronic medical record (i.e., MedAccess), and be accountable for accurate, thorough documentation
Prepare lab requisitions
Schedule, coordinate, and confirm appointments
Coordinate medical documents and records
Transcribe consult letters, and follow up with consult reports
Scan and mail documents
Be responsible for data collection for compiling statistics
Qualifications
Completion of recognized Medical Office Assistant certificate program
Minimum two years' experience in medical clinic operation, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience working with marginalized populations an asset
Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check
Current CPR certification
Knowledge/Skills
Ability to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work co-operatively within a multidisciplinary team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and resourcefulness
Non-judgmental and respectful of various individual, family and community lifestyles
Understanding of trauma-informed care and harm reduction an asset
Strong computer proficiency
Experience with MedAccess EMR an asset
Experience with Office365 suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams
Database creation and maintenance
Proficient typing ability
