Job Description


In conjunction with the Manager, the Medical Device Reprocessing Supervisor provides leadership and coordination of the daily and overall operation of the MDRD in accordance with RVH policies and procedures, CSA standards and associated regulatory bodies. The MDR supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision, organization, direction, education, recruitment, orientation and overall support of the MDR staff. They lead and participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and expansion planning. They are responsible for procurement, instrument management and ensuring equipment operation. The MDR Supervisor works with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal operation of the MDRD.Education:

  • MDRAO or CMDRS course in Sterile Processing Techniques
  • Leadership/Management Courses an asset
  • Member of MDRAO
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years experience as an MDR Tech in MDRD
  • MDRD Supervisor experience and asset
  • Management/Leadership experience in healthcare essential
Competencies:
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and practice according to CSA standards and guidelines for the MDRD
  • Familiarity with SPM instrument management system
  • Knowledge of SOP and policy development
  • WHMIS certified, with knowledge of safe handling of common MDR chemicals
  • Competency in staff scheduling and human resources/performance management
  • Commitment and practice according to RVH vision, mission and values
  • Strong team-oriented leadership skills
  • Proficiency in change management
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with others, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates excellence in problem solving, critical thinking, multitasking and organizational skills

Responsibilities:Management of direct reports, Quality Assurance, Standard Operating Procedure creation, MDR Operation and Provision of EducationHours of Work: 37.5 hrs/week Monday to Friday, days and/or evenings. Leadership support of after-hours emergenciesUnless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
