JOB SUMMARY:
This role will be responsible for planning and developing the research and development communication strategy; a strategy which will include compilation and dissemination of medical education materials and programs for internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the role will contribute to the dissemination of internal research initiatives and output, working closely with our medical and scientific leads to ensure that Alimentiv maintains its reputation as the premier contract research organization within the field of GI research. The Medical Communications and Education Specialist will also work with the medical and Marketing and Communications teams to shape the organization’s digital/social media strategy and develop targeted and creative ways of connecting with the gastrointestinal (GI) research community. Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information through visually appealing and professional graphics and slide decks are essential. As part of the Medical Writing team, this role will also support the development and editing of other content, including conducting document QC and other editing activities
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical education activities

  • Research and develop content for internal medical education/training to maintain high therapeutic area knowledge across the company
  • Stay abreast of the relevant scientific literature for use in educational materials
  • Support the departmental coordination of educational sessions by confirming speaker assignments (including external guest speakers/KOLs), attendance, evaluations, and any other session needs
  • Work with Alimentiv leaders, including the learning and development team, to assess learning needs and tailor educational sessions to close skill gaps
  • Develop slide decks or other training materials, including graphics, in order to clearly communicate complex ideas

Content Development
  • Support other communication activities for the organization, including but not limited to; press releases, web-based content, infographics, visual abstracts, posters, proposals, newsletters, manuscripts, and business development materials
  • Edit or QC documents/content prepared by other medical writers or staff
  • Establish project plans and timelines
  • Develop slide decks and graphics for presentation at scientific conferences or to existing and potential clients
  • Proofread materials for quality and accuracy
  • Coordinate document review and approval as needed

Shape Alimentiv’s digital/social media strategy
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to create digitally optimized on-brand content for multiple social media platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter, and other opportunities to promote Alimentiv’s scientific contributions and output
  • Conceptualize innovative communication strategies to target the GI research community and increase the visibility of the organization
  • Participate in meetings to discuss content messaging and alignment with corporate objectives; provide advice and recommendations
  • Research, write, and edit clear, accurate, and creative content

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of an undergraduate degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience in medical writing
  • Highly refined written and verbal communication skills, and project management skills
  • Effective prioritization and time management to manage concurrent projects and deadlines
  • Excellent research capabilities and a strong aptitude for learning
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or medical sciences preferred
  • Technical writing and editing ability with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to convey complex science in an accurate and concise manner
  • Basic understanding of social/digital communications techniques and trends
  • Ability to adapt content based on the audience and the medium (social media and other communication channels)
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively work with other team members or external collaborators
  • Knowledge of software to support professional graphics development and social media content is an asset (Photoshop, PowerPoint, social media platforms)
  • Ability to identify data sources, assess and validate data quality, and determine the most effective means of presenting information
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to interact with the executive leadership team
