Media Editor: Bilingual (remote)

Job Description

For more than 25 years, our company has been providing communications solutions to organizations within a variety of business sectors. We are widely recognized as one of the most respected B2B show producers and media publishers in Canada. We help associations and B2B clients succeed in connecting their members to the information that impacts their businesses. Working either from our Toronto head office or remotely from anywhere in Canada, we are seeking an experienced and bilingual (English / French) Media Editor to work on industry leading B2B projects, including print, digital (e-newsletter and website) and social media products. The ideal candidate has proven editorial experience, plus excellent communication and planning skills. The candidate is extremely organized, takes initiative, and able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities and has experience with meeting frequent and ongoing publishing deadlines. Responsibilities:
  • Oversee editorial content direction and overall publishing schedules
  • Interview and write content where required
  • Liaise with existing freelance writers and contributors and source new options and circulate schedule requirements
  • Help assemble editorial committees and communicate with individual committee members
  • Help select photography and provide art direction
  • Comply with media law and industry regulations
  • Proofread, edit and rewrite articles to meet publication standards
  • Work with the internal design department on layout, proofing and final approvals for print products
  • Utilizing the existing digital frameworks, source, write and regularly place content inside the applicable website, e-newsletter and social media products
  • Attend bi-annual industry events and trade shows to gather content and editorial contributors
Qualifications:
  • Relevant post-secondary education (preferably a Communications/Journalism or related degree)
  • Minimum of 5 years? experience
  • Excellent bilingual communication skills, including writing, proof-reading and speaking in both French and English.
  • Experience in writing event marketing material, identifying effective ways to reach audience using traditional media, digital media and social media an asset
  • Proficient use of the latest versions of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other programs required to deliver successful editorial content
