The Gardens of Haliburton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Med Trained Personal Support Worker (PSW) to join our team for full-time day shifts 7am-3pm.
This candidate will work under the Director of Wellness as an unlicensed health care provider, administering certain medications, provided they are trained and meet the requirements of our medication administration policy.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and medication dispensing, with a passion for supporting individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, and Alzheimer's. This role involves providing essential care and support to seniors in retirement living.
Responsibilities
Follow Implement care plans - Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including shower assist, dressing, grooming, portering, medication administration
Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations to ensure health and safety.
Provide personal care while respecting the dignity and privacy of each resident.
as directed by Director of Wellness.
Administer medications as prescribed while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Encourage Resident to participate in social activities to promote mental well-being and community integration.
Collaborate effectively with team members to provide high-quality care tailored to individual needs.
Document all interactions and changes in client conditions accurately. Experience with YARDI is an asset.
Keep current knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures and to participate fully in all mandatory training sessions.
Adhere to direction from Director of Wellness and Public health
Maintaining MARS
Safekeeping of drug and narcotic keys
Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Wellness
Qualifications
Certification as a Personal Support Worker or equivalent training
First Aid and CPR certification
Knowledge of general nursing process and diagnosis
Familiarity with memory care practices and working with individuals with dementia and Alzheimer's is an asset.
Strong communication skills in the English language and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Compassionate approach towards caregiving with a focus on patient dignity and respect.
Ability to perform transfers, provide Resident care and administer medications
Ability to present Criminal and Judicial matter police check
Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral
Clear TB skin test results provided on site
Minimum 2 COVID vaccinations and ability to receive monthly flu shots (or doctors note for medical reason to decline)
Ability to complete mandatory online annual staff training
Rate of Pay:
Starting wage $21.11 (increases at 1 year, 3 years and 5 years service)

Shift:
7am-3pm, obligation to work every other weekend and availability to work stats and holidays as scheduled.
