KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop detailed functional specifications for mechanical, electrical, and software segments of ATA test systems based on high-level definition of process inputs and outputs. Ensure smooth integration of key deliverables from each functional discipline to form a fully functional, cohesive, manufacturable solution.
  • Perform engineering calculations and select components for mechanical, hydraulic, thermal and electrical systems to meet requirements.
  • Develop conceptual and detailed 3D mechanical designs in Solidworks for ATA test equipment.
  • Evaluate or specify dimensions, tolerances and materials on 2D engineering drawings for customized system components.
  • Review electrical drawings, which includes three-phase power systems, low voltage controls, analog instrumentation, data acquisition systems, etc.
  • Develop flow charts and/or pseudocode for system control algorithms, and review functional layout developed in NI LabVIEW.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges and risks that could affect the implementation of a new functional module, product, or service.
  • Lead prototype validation initiatives to de-risk component and/or module functionality, for product and/or test service offerings.
  • Document product and process FMEA studies for new designs.
  • Attend internal Project Kick-off Meetings to ensure alignment between product features and customer deliverables.
  • Work with Project Management to provide inputs in creating Project Schedules, including work breakdown structures, time estimates, and risk identification.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records (work breakdown structure, time estimate, duration, resource allocation) within ATA project management tools.
  • Create, review and maintain Bill of Materials documents.
  • Participate in product test data analysis, prepare or review test reports, and assist with data interpretation.
  • Support customer onsite commissioning efforts by working together with test engineers and technicians in functional validation of test equipment.
  • Work safely, following company Health and Safety procedures and promote safety within the company.
  • Assist in other departments as needed and time permits.
QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for specific industry related and direct design experience in this role to help us achieve our growth objectives. You are expected to be an in-house expert who has hands-on machine design experience with strong aptitude in mechanical, electrical, control and software. Mechanical
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in designing of custom test machines, pump/valves and validation test services in the Automotive, Aerospace or off-highway industries.
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics systems design
  • Specific experience in sizing and integrating mechanical components including tanks, pumps, valves, flow meters, temperature control, pressure control, heater and refrigeration.
  • Experience in developing System Architecture, Process Flow Diagrams, 3D Models, Components and Supplier selections, Drawings and GD&T.
Electrical
  • Experience in determining the electrical requirements for the system and selecting electrical components such as power supplies, circuit breakers, fuses, overloads, relays, scr, variable frequency drives (vfd) and etc\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Have the ability to create and audit industrial electrical schematics
Control
  • Experience in determining the requirements for control / acquisition systems and integrating control components such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, NI DAQ\xe2\x80\x99s, signal conditioners, and etc\xe2\x80\xa6
  • Have strong fundamental knowledge of control signals and methods such as analog/digital IO and pwm.
Software
  • Experience with developing software for machines, creating machine operating sequences and flow diagrams, and programming.
  • 1-2 years of experience working with Labview.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent.
  • Professional designation (P.Eng. C.E.T., any of IFPS certifications) is an asset
SOFTWARE
  • 1-2 years of experience with Labview
  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD and other CAD applications.
  • Google Email for Business, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Chat.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to perform occasional heavy lifting up to 50lbs
  • Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, and viewing a computer terminal
  • Able to work in a shop floor environment and be exposed to noise and dust
OTHER
  • Must have a valid Driver\'s License
  • Must be able and willing to travel Internationally occasionally (up to 10%)
