Position: Mechanic\'s HelperDivision: Transportation and ConstructionDepartment: Roadways, Fleet and Support ServicesTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position(s) available for approximately months.Closing Date: 05/31/2024Labour Group: CUPE 59Posting: 3302Job SummaryUnder supervision of the Parks Mechanic Supervisor, this position assists shop staff with the maintenance and repair of Parks vehicles and equipment.Duties & Responsibilities

• Performs regular maintenance inspections of Parks vehicles/equipment.
• Maintains lubrication levels, changes lubricants and greases Parks vehicles/equipment as required.
• Performs the minor repair aspects and adjustments to ignition, electrical, braking, fuel injection, hydraulic, and other systems on Parks vehicles/equipment.
• Rotates, repairs and changes tires as required.
• Submits reports of all maintenance duties performed.
• Maintains shop area in a clean and safe condition.
• Assists shop mechanics as directed.
• Assists with acetylene, arc and mig welding and with metal fabrication.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience Requirements:

• Grade 10 education.
• Three years\' experience in a motor vehicle/equipment repair and maintenance environment.
• Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver\'s Licence.
• Current driver\'s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of the safety practices specific to the repair and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement in the care and handling of motor vehicles.
• Ability to maintain basic records.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.
