Drop Marine builds high-performance workboats - and we're doing it a little differently. As a team of hands-on builders, problem solvers, and gearheads, we design and manufacture vessels and components with precision, grit, and a clear-eyed view of what works.
We're growing and looking for a Mechanical Technologist to help us push our builds, and our systems, to the next level.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who's ready to bring their shop floor experience and technical training into an industry they're passionate about. If you've got leadership experience, a background in manufacturing, and a love of rolling up your sleeves to get things done, let's talk.
What You'll Be Doing
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Build and refine drawing packages (dimensions, BOMs, assembly drawings).
Document technical specifications and ensure design packages meet required standards.
Work closely with welders, machinists, and other team members to bring designs to life.
Collaborate directly with the VP of Manufacturing and our engineering team to refine designs, troubleshoot builds, and drive continuous improvement.
Lead shop floor problem-solving and contribute to systems/process improvements.
Support prototyping, testing, and iterative design.
Ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations and assist with related documentation and inspections.
Help integrate and enforce ISO practices in design and documentation.
You're a Fit If You...
Have a diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology
Have real-world experience in a shop or manufacturing setting
Are confident in SolidWorks (PDM, Electrical, CPQ experience is a bonus)
Understand hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Can lead small teams and aren't afraid to make decisions
Are organized, reliable, and good at closing loops
Find flow in part numbers, project management tools, and well-documented drawings - you're the type who notices when something's one millimeter off
Want to work where your ideas and hands actually make a difference
