The Opportunity


The

Mechanical Specialist

is responsible for health of the heating, ventilation, and mechanical systems of all assets throughout Deveraux's Winnipeg portfolio. The successful candidate will work closely with facilities staff to perform service calls to all buildings, follow/carry out a preventative maintenance program and processes that ensure the lifespan and efficiency of mechanical systems throughout our Winnipeg portfolio.



This role will also train other Facilities Technicians to improve overall plumbing, refrigeration and HVAC knowledge. This role will complete and oversee repairs and upgrades to mechanical systems across Deveraux Apartment Communities.

What you bring...


Valid MOPIA Ozone Depleting Substances and Halocarbons certification for work involving regulated refrigerants and air conditioning systems. Renewal of certification if expired must occur within first 60 days of employment Residential Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certification or apprenticeship in progress recognized by the Province of Manitoba Valid Gas Fitter Class B licence appropriate for servicing and maintaining gas-fired HVAC equipment in Manitoba Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening Excellent organizational and communication skills including both oral and written Ability to delegate work and maintain schedules with minimal supervision Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email Willing and able to travel between sites Strong working knowledge of electrical systems Experience working in multifamily residential properties Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs Strong customer service skills with comfort in front facing interactions

Maintain and oversee the health of all heating, ventilation, and mechanical systems across the Winnipeg portfolio Respond to and complete service calls for building mechanical issues Perform and follow a preventative maintenance program to ensure system efficiency and longevity Diagnose, repair, HVAC and Plumbing issues Identify and repair electrical and mechanical faults in furnaces, boilers, heat pumps, and A/C units Ensure all repairs, installations, and upgrades comply with building codes and safety regulations Train and support technicians to strengthen HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration expertise Communicate with residents and site management to explain issues, review repair plans, provide cost estimates, and recommend system improvements or replacements

You must be legally eligible to work in Canada (e.g., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or possess a valid work permit) and provide a satisfactory Criminal Background Check.
