Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Lead responsible for the development of complex 3D models and advanced CAD drawings for industrial projects, ensuring compliance with design standards, quality expectations, and interdisciplinary coordination.
Must Have Skills

• 15+ years of combined education and experience in mechanical design and drafting
• Experience in mining and metals
• Proficiency with 3D modeling platforms and advanced CAD drafting tools
• Experience reviewing vendor documentation and interdisciplinary design outputs
• Bulk material take-off experience and familiarity with material cost analysis
• Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and local/federal design regulations
• Strong technical communication skills across teams and stakeholders

Nice to Have Skills

• Experience as Design Area Lead in large-scale engineering projects
• Familiarity with 3D model review tools and platforms
• Understanding of departmental practices and procedures for quality assurance
• Practical field experience in mechanical services or construction support
• Intermediate computer skills including spreadsheets, email, and presentations
• Awareness of commercial availability and cost-effective material selection

Responsibilities

• Develop and review complex 3D models using industry-standard platforms
• Create advanced 2D CAD drawings and apply project drawing standards
• Conduct reviews of vendor equipment documentation and interdisciplinary deliverables
• Perform and tabulate bulk material take-offs and contribute to procurement estimates
• Adhere to applicable codes, standards, and internal best practices
• Support the development of quality, cost-effective mechanical solutions
• Collaborate with internal design teams and project stakeholders
• Perform other duties as assigned
