As a Mechanical Buyer on Pomerleau's logistics team, you will be responsible for purchasing mechanical and electrical parts to support the manufacturing, repair and maintenance of fleet equipment and operations in the greater Montreal area and on remote construction sites for large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion. You'll have the opportunity to work with several teams, including accounting, mechanics and other buyers.



What you will do





Research the services, parts, materials and consumables required for the maintenance, manufacture and repair of fleet equipment and its operation. Analyze different purchasing or subcontracting options according to total acquisition cost. Target the right suppliers/alternatives for products, parts or services to get the best possible value for money. Manage requisitioner priorities according to different levels of urgency. Follow up on incoming goods to ensure compliance with orders. Collaborate with the accounts payable department to resolve invoicing problems when encountered. Negotiate prices for products and services, research and select the best suppliers or manufacturers. Resolve commercial and financial disputes with suppliers when encountered. Develop winning relationships with suppliers and evaluate their performance. Issue purchase orders and ensure proper execution of contracts. Carry out the necessary follow-ups to confirm the quality and quantities of goods ordered and purchased. Return goods to suppliers when necessary and obtain applicable credits. Coordinate transportation and shipping of ordered goods to ensure on-time delivery within required and possible timeframes. Meet with suppliers' and manufacturers' representatives to keep abreast of new products and parts available on the market that are applicable to his/her position. Collaborate with mechanical buyers at other logistics centers to share and exchange relevant information in connection with the purchase of products and services for the manufacture, maintenance and repair of fleet equipment. Purchase products and services required for the maintenance and operation of the logistics center to which he/she is assigned. Transmit goods receipt bills to the accounting department for payment of invoices within the applicable deadlines.


This role could be for you if you have





DEP/ DEC/ Technical diploma or equivalent experience in a field relevant to our activities (equipment purchasing, construction equipment/ heavy equipment mechanics, tooling, electricity, etc.) or in administration with experience in a technical field. 5 to 8 years experience applicable to the position. Good knowledge of the Office suite and comfortable with information systems. Bilingual French/English. Knowledge of electricity is an asset.
