We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Product Design Engineer/Designer based in Ottawa, ON. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in our fast-paced product development environment, working on multiple projects simultaneously across various industries and technologies.

Responsibilities:

Lead day-to-day tasks including concept generation, mechanical engineering, and computer-aided design (CAD). Collaborate closely with clients and cross-functional teams to develop new physical products from concept to manufacturing. Utilize your expertise in mechanical engineering and product design to drive innovative solutions and overcome complex challenges.

Effectively communicate complex data and technical ideas

to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds. Conduct physics-based analysis and apply first principles to problem-solving.

Generate reasonable product requirements from blank slates for discussion

based on high-level concepts and prioritize design criteria accordingly. Ensure attention to detail and multitask effectively in a dynamic team environment. Leverage our in-house prototyping and testing capabilities to

create and build bench models

, enabling quick validation and iteration of concepts. Take advantage of our extensive prototype and testing resources, allowing for thorough evaluation of designs across various materials and techniques.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 7 years' experience in physical product design. Proficiency in computer-aided design (SolidWorks preferred) and experience in engineering service industry or client-facing roles. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment. Experience with finite element analysis, flow analysis, and thermal analysis is advantageous. Familiarity with electronic product design, industrial design, and multiple prototyping and manufacturing techniques is a plus.
