Nickel concentrate from the fly-in, fly-out Voisey\xe2\x80\x99s Bay operation is shipped to our state-of-art Long Harbour Processing Plant where it is refined into low-carbon and high-purity nickel rounds, cobalt rounds and copper cathodes.The Mechanical Maintenance Execution Team is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities for planned and unplanned preventative and repair maintenance tasks. They are expected to follow the weekly maintenance schedule and execute the work as planned based on equipment availability, while also responding to any repairs required during a process upset to ensure the plant continues to run. They enforce and implement safety programs (ie: Golden Rules, Tool Box Talks, CRM/LIF Audits, etc.) to help prevent accidents before they occur. They also work collaboratively with other disciplines and support where needed.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Student \xe2\x80\x93 Spring 2024 to join our Mechanical 1 Maintenance Department. This is a 4-month fixed term position. This position will be on a 4x10s schedule (Monday to Thursday OR Tuesday to Friday) working at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL.As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Maintenance Department. From working alongside Maintenance Engineers, Coordinators and Operations Personnel to assist with a wide variety of tasks related to technical and engineering support for the Leach Plant area to leadership development, diversity & inclusion, and culture, you will have a holistic and enriching experience like no other. Additionally, in this position, you will:

• Working with the maintenance engineer to review/develop detailed mechanical, electrical & instrumentation engineering drawings and specifications. Participating in reviews and troubleshooting of various Leach Plant equipment.
• Assist maintenance coordinators with problem solving, troubleshooting and execution of urgent repairs by providing technical support.
• Coordinating improvement projects and initiatives, interfacing with other departments and outside vendors
• Field verification of and updating electrical/mechanical drawings.
• Assisting with document management and site Management of Change (MOC) process
• Support the Safe Production Model of risk and hazard management and lead by example.

About YouEducation:

• Currently enrolled as a student in a Mechanical Engineering (Co-op) Program.

Skills:

• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills and a proven safety record are essential.
