Summary
The Mechanical Engineering Intern will work a summer or Co-Op work term with Precision Drilling in both the office and field/shop environments. The intern will work closely with the Engineering team, made up of professional engineers, technologists and EIT's. The intern will interface with Operations personnel to develop a practical understanding of drilling rigs and drilling operations.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the engineering team to support ongoing projects throughout Canada
You will be a full member of the Operations Engineering team, with field/shop exposure as required by projects
You will be exposed to technical aspects of providing support to drilling rigs operating in the field and/or new equipment designs
You will have exposure to typical 2D & 3D design software packages, mechanical and structural analysis software, as well as the typical Microsoft Office suite products.
Knowledge & Skills
Excellent time management skills
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Great communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work well within a multi-disciplined team
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Valid Driver's License with good driving record
Education
Enrolled in an Engineering program, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering
Experience
Drafting/Design experience with AutoCAD and Inventor (or equivalent 2D and 3D software) is an asset
Experience with oil drilling rig equipment or other mechanical equipment would be an asset, but not a requirement
* Previous experience working in a hands-on and labour-intensive environment (farming, automotive, mechanics, etc.) is an asset, but not a requirement
