Position: Mechanical Engineer

Reports to: Mechanical Engineering Manager

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Location: Aurora Ontario, Canada


We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Aurora ON. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full product development cycle of new antenna and filter products (from product research to pre-production) for use primarily with base station systems, vehicles and handheld devices in public safety and mobile communications systems. In addition to short term deployment-driven tasks, you will have the opportunity to develop novel concepts and innovative new designs that satisfy long term product needs of the market and company.

What You'll Do:



Develop new antenna and RF filter products by studying customer requirements and regulations. Conduct all mechanical aspects of product development cycle including the conceptual design, DFMEA, FEA analysis, optimization, parts draft, assembly, test, product release, project technical report, material, and cost report. Plan and conduct reliability testing according to industry standards. Perform derivative product designs, product performance improvement and error correction. Explore new design technologies, enhance professional job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging manufacturing technologies and practices. Perform product improvement and cost reduction. Document engineering design by recording engineering design requirements, theory, simulation and test results, material and hours tracking, filling engineering design reports. Specify hardware and material to comply with product specifications, manufacturing requirements and target cost. Create or approve product drawings, release documents, specifications, customer manual, manufacturing assembly and test instructions. Provide engineering information and support other department to resolve technical problems. Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring:



Master's or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent area of study 5+ years of industry experience developing and testing products for commercial applications. Proficiency in Solid works with 3 years of industry experience, including experience with Reference geometry, Hole wizard, Pattern, Multi-configuration and design table. Proficiency in Ansys Mechanical and other FEA software is a definite asset. Solid understanding of metal and plastic fabrication/manufacturing processes Knowledge of drawing views and BOM, dimensioning and tolerance labeling Knowledge or experience with Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly methodologies and best engineering practices Strong professional experience in mechanical design and product building for high-volume, high-quality and low-cost production Hands-on experience with mechanical and environmental testing processes and equipment - such as vibration tables and thermal chambers - would be a definite asset Able to work in a cross-functional engineering team in a fast-paced, priority-changing environment. Effective multitasking in a meeting deadlines-focused environment; be a self-starter and self-driven individual. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent listening, technical writing and presentation and verbal communication skills
