JARVIS Manufacturing is a fabrication, material-processing, and machining shop serving heavy industrial clients. We design and build structural assemblies, fixtures, production parts, and equipment.

Historically, our engineering work has been stamped by third-party engineers. We are now formalizing our engineering function and require an in-house

P.Eng.

to help us become an APEGA-registered company and produce stamped drawings and engineered designs internally.

This is a young, fast-moving company that works on a diverse range of problems across multiple industries.

Role Overview



The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for mechanical and structural design, CAD modeling, fabrication drawings, and support of shop operations. This is a hands-on role, closely integrated with welding, machining, and fabrication teams.

In addition, this role will spearhead the development of our formal engineering practice. You will lead our APEGA Permit to Practice efforts and ongoing compliance, and help drive other relevant certifications and accreditations for the business. This includes putting in place practical procedures, documentation, and controls so that our engineering work is professionally governed, auditable, and able to scale as the company grows.

Key Responsibilities



Design & Drafting



Model parts, weldments, and assemblies in

SolidWorks

and/or

Siemens Solid Edge

. Produce fabrication drawings with appropriate weld symbols, dimensions, and tolerances. Create and maintain 3D models, drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).

Manufacturing & Shop Support



Generate CAM or cut files for CNC equipment. Work directly with welders, machinists, and operators to ensure designs are practical and buildable. Troubleshoot fit-up and fabrication issues and revise designs as required. Assist in automating job routing within the shop, coordinate with third-party vendors, and work directly with customers on technical problems.

Engineering & Documentation



Perform mechanical and structural calculations. Run FEA analyses and simulation studies where appropriate. Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and calculation files. Contribute to the development of engineering procedures required for APEGA Permit to Practice compliance, in coordination with ownership.

General Responsibilities



Translate customer requirements--sketches, drawings, specifications--into internal deliverables: BOMs, drawings, and CNC files. Communicate clearly with internal staff and customers on technical matters. Manage projects from concept through to released drawings and provide support during fabrication. Assist with ordering and coordinating with vendors throughout jobs and projects.

Requirements



Bachelor's degree in

Mechanical Engineering

or a closely related field.

Registered P.Eng. with APEGA

(required). Strong CAD capability with

SolidWorks

and/or

Siemens Solid Edge

. Experience producing fabrication-ready drawings for welded structures and machined parts. Solid understanding of structural and mechanical design principles. Familiarity with CNC machining and/or CNC plasma cutting processes. Comfortable working in a shop environment and coordinating directly with fabrication personnel. Organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
