Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer, the Mechanical Engineer or Engineer in Training, Mobile Maintenance is responsible for providing engineering assistance for maintenance, project management, and reliability functions to maximize the efficiency and utilization of mobile mining equipment.
To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong verbal and written communication, as well as excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities; a team-oriented individual with a strong focus on safety, personal responsibility, who is highly self-motivated. The ability to maintain a positive and flexible attitude while working effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is vital in this role.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Apply engineering principles concerning the safeguarding of life, health, property, economic interests, the public welfare, and the environment
  • Work in accordance with applicable government regulations and Teck standards
  • Manage specific projects within the maintenance department including infrastructure improvements that incorporates material requirements, timing, economic justification, and budget constraints
  • Work with planners, trades, and supervisors in a collaborative environment to continually improve maintenance processes and equipment performance
  • Support the development and implementation of maintenance strategies, that are built using engineering methodologies such as reliability centered maintenance, and failure mode effects analysis
  • Provide training and support to tradespeople and operators participating in various reliability and maintenance processes
  • Facilitate processes to identify, analyze and resolve bad actors on mobile equipment
  • Support the development, reporting, and analysis of Key Performance Indicators

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in mining, truck, and shovel operations or related industry fields is an asset
  • Experience with mobile equipment mechanical and electrical systems
  • Registered with or eligible for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia; Professional Engineer designation is an asset
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite\xc2\xae and Solidworks\xc2\xae 3D modeling software
