Position Summary
As a successful applicant, you would be a key member of the engineering team responsible for creating and designing innovative products in collaboration with our valuable OEM customers. These OEM customers are companies in the firearms industry that purchase our products for integration into the complete builds they sell to end users. The products we develop with them can be anything from bipods or magazines to complete custom-built chassis kits for specialized applications. You would be responsible for driving projects through the entire development process (initial concept development, prototyping, manufacturing, and validation) while ensuring visibility and alignment with the customer. There will also be opportunities within this position to lead development on products MDT sells directly to the end user.
Responsibilities
? Developing new and exciting products and refining existing ones
? Communicating with OEM and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment in terms of design scope, costing and development timelines
? Prototyping and testing of working models using an iterative approach: modeling, prototyping, testing, and revising the design as necessary until the product meets project requirements
? Producing detailed design specifications, including parts lists and costing
? Helping to establish the design brief, including concept, performance, and production criteria
? Interpret technical data and participate in developing qualification test procedures and test methods/plans
? Interact with customers and other internal departments to investigate issues and implement product improvement ideas
? Identifying the suitability and availability of materials
? Liaising with other departments to discuss and negotiate appropriate production processes, costs, and commercial issues
? Participate and support efforts in creating accurate Bills of Materials, installation instructions, other support documents, and installation jigs
? Creation and modification of part and assembly models
? Preparation of production drawings
? Documenting new processes and procedures
? Adhere to established processes and procedures
? Manage multiple projects simultaneously
? Other engineering duties as assigned

Requirements
? Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
? Track record of in-depth mechanical product development in a manufacturing environment
? Ability to communicate clearly & conciseness both verbally and in writing
? Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drafting (SolidWorks or similar).
? Familiarity with best practices of part design for machining and injection molding
? Demonstrated strong creative thinking and problem-solving; ability to deep-dive and use first principles thinking to solve complex engineering challenges
? Ability to excel in fast-paced and challenging environments
? Ability to travel occasionally to vendor production facilities, customer sites, & trade shows (sometimes international)
? Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) will need to be obtained following the start of employment
