We are an ABSA-registered Pressure Vessel shop, providing end-to-end design, engineering, inspection, repair, and fabrication.
The Role
We are seeking a
Professional Engineer (P.Eng., Mechanical)
to join our engineering team in Lacombe, Alberta.
This position combines hands-on engineering with drafting responsibilities and provides the opportunity to take ownership of vessel and piping design projects. You will act as the Responsible Engineer for designs requiring professional sign-off.
Your work will include:
Full design and engineering of new ASME Section VIII Div. 1 pressure vessels.
Re-rating and modification engineering for existing pressure vessels.
Design of ASME B31.3 process piping systems.
Engineering and design of CSA B620 transport vessels, impact protection structures, and rollover protection structures.
Drafting and modeling in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation, Codeware COMPRESS, and AutoCAD Plant 3D (P&IDs).
Preparing calculations, analysis packages, and technical documentation for regulatory submissions.
Collaborating with shop, inspection, and field teams to ensure practical and compliant designs.
What We're Looking For
This role requires current registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA or eligibility for immediate registration.
Applicants
not yet licensed (e.g., E.I.T., Master's/Ph.D. students without P.Eng.) will not be considered
, as we do not currently have in-house P.Eng. supervision for E.I.T. experience.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (CEAB-accredited or equivalent accepted by APEGA).
Current registration as a P.Eng. in Alberta (or eligible for immediate registration).
Strong mechanical design and drafting skills.
Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D, or similar).
Balance of engineering analysis and hands-on drafting.
Commitment to working full-time in our Lacombe office.
Assets (training provided as needed):
Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII Div. 1 and ASME B31.3.
Familiarity with CSA B620, CSA B149.1, CSA B149.2.
Pressure vessel or piping stress analysis experience.
