Globe Stamping does light metal stamping, die design, die construction, and finishing assembly. Globe Stamping has recently expanded into plastics production with a highly automated production line. Located in Kitchener, Ontario, Globe Stamping has been supplying high quality stamped parts to customers for over 100 years.

Job Overview


The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for facilitating the development of the manufacturing process for new and existing products. The engineer creates 3D drawings of products for reference by the customer, tool makers and production team. Engineering knowledge and experience is used to determine the most efficient materials, machinery and methods to meet the requirements of the customer. This role also involves ongoing efforts to ensure the quality standards of Globe and its customers are maintained for our products. The engineer must maintain positive relationships and communication with customers, suppliers, management and the Globe team to successfully complete projects and ensure quality in production.

Duties



Troubleshoot and solve production issues and quality issues that arise in manufacturing processes Interact with the customer to determine the design requirements for products and the tooling to produce them based on sketches and verbal concepts Perform engineering calculations for machine and tool designs Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. Create working and detail drawings, and bills of materials using SolidWorks Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, machining techniques, finishes, and hardness. Collaborate with management to establish design concepts and get reviews of design intents. Communicate design concepts and requirements to the customer, management, tool makers and the production team Generate project quotes that meet the requirements of the customer Address quality issues with suppliers and customers through constructive communication and negotiation including visiting the supplier or customer, where appropriate Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering 3-5 years of experience as a mechanical engineer in a manufacturing environment Analytical skills for engineering calculations and design analysis Proficiency with drafting and mechanical design using a 3D product development CAD program Strong knowledge of and experience with SolidWorks is an asset Experience in designing tooling and products from sketches or verbal concepts Attention to detail for reviewing drawings and documentation Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail and customer service focus Ability to work effectively in a team environment focused on continuous improvement
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
