Canwe Solutions Ltd. is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical EIT to support welding and mechanical engineering activities. This role involves hands-on work in mechanical testing, data collection, and process documentation, as well as design and analysis using AutoCAD.
You will play a key role in ensuring project success by performing engineering calculations, preparing and qualifying welding procedures (WPSs/PQRs), and maintaining compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, and eager to contribute to innovative, high-quality engineering solutions within a dynamic, fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Perform detailed mechanical engineering calculations and develop engineering designs using AutoCAD.
Observe welding processes to collect real-time data, document welding parameters, and generate drawings and fabrication plans.
Manage and control inventory of materials required for welding operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with client requirements.
Prepare test specimens for mechanical tests through cutting, grinding, and polishing.
Conduct mechanical tests on welding joints, including hardness, tensile, impact, and bending.
Record, analyze, and interpret welding process data to support procedure qualification, process optimization, and quality assurance.
Prepare, revise, and maintain procedure qualification records (PQR) and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings, methodologies, and recommendations
Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA is required.
Strong knowledge of fundamentals in mechanical engineering, materials, and/or welding engineering.
Experience in mechanical testing in a lab or industry environment is an asset.
Familiarity with ASME section IX, CSA, or ABSA codes and rules is an asset.
Strong technical writing, documentation, and data analysis skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience with AutoCAD or Revit is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork abilities.
