Kamengo specializes in solving some of the toughest problems faced by industry. These problems are at the heart of shifting the global economy to a more sustainable model with a smaller ecological footprint.
See your efforts brought to life.
At Kamengo, you will participate in the full product life-cycle from first contact with the client, to crafting proposals, to negotiating the terms of the contract, to mechanical design, and finally supporting the fabrication and assembly of the final product. Over the course of a project, you will see your drawings and engineering schematics brought to life into real-life equipment that will solve important problems faced by our clients.
Gain hands-on experience
. At Kamengo you won't be stuck at the office or stuck working in one industry. You will have opportunities to visit clients, get out to the fabrication shop, attend marketing trips including conferences, and do site visits. You will get to see a lot of different problems in different industries and interact with engineers and operators in different parts of the world.
Get out in-front.
We will push you into positions of responsibility to the extent that you are ready and willing. This includes putting you in-front of the client to discuss the challenges they are facing, present a solution, or support the installation and start-up of equipment.
Develop a wide skill set.
At Kamengo, you will be exposed to a wide range of disciplines and expected to develop expertise in mechanical design, process engineering, and structural engineering, as well as in PLC programming, electrical wiring, instrumentation and hydraulics.
What will you do?
We envision an exciting position, with the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) participating in several roles on projects big and small, including:
Contributing to Product Design and Preparing Fabrication Drawings.
Kamengo designs and prepares fabrication drawings for the majority of the equipment that it sells. The EIT will play a lead role in the production of 3D models and fabrication drawings. Producing good shop drawings requires a patient, detail oriented mind. The EIT is expected to approach this work with the diligence and intelligence that it demands.
Product design also involves the application of theory. In particular, the EIT must be prepared to do calculations. Finally, as part of product design, the EIT will work with senior staff to select and size equipment.
Supporting The Company Quality Assurance Program.
Kamengo, for the most part, fabricates its equipment in British Columbia. The EIT will support the company's quality assurance program by participating in shop visits to monitor fabrication and ensure critical dimensions are held. The EIT will use shop visits as an opportunity to learn from fabricators to improve company product design.
Accompanying Senior Staff on Site Visits.
The EIT will support and/or accompany senior staff on site visits, including at the proposal stage or as part of commissioning/ maintenance of equipment. On occasion, the EIT should be prepared to travel on extended visits (1 to 2 weeks).
Assembling Documentation.
The EIT will assist in assembling product documentation including erection and start-up instructions, equipment handling and preservation instructions, as well as operating and maintenance manuals. This work requires strong writing skills.
Performing Lab Testing.
Kamengo uses lab testing to measure the properties of the bulk materials that we design for. The EIT will have to be enthusiastic about getting their hands dirty.
Engaging in Problem Solving.
Kamengo prides itself in its ability to apply complex theory on the flow of bulk materials to solving the problems of its clients. The EIT will work with senior staff to solve design problems and assemble proposals for Kamengo's clients.
Supporting Electrical and Instrumentation Design.
Kamengo has a strong, dedicated team that is responsible for electrical and instrumentation related tasks. The EIT is expected to learn and contribute to these tasks, which include: selecting instruments, preparing P&IDs, and assisting with PLC programming.
Supporting Project Management Activities.
Over time, the EIT is expected to take on more responsibility, including leading projects. To get you there, Kamengo senior staff will not be afraid to put you in front of the client early and often. To be successful the EIT will need to have strong writing and verbal skills.
