Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, to join a team leading large-scale data center projects from conception through to execution across North America. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the design of cooling and HVAC mechanical piping systems for hyperscale and enterprise-level data centers. You will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions for mission-critical environments and ensuring reliable, efficient, and maintainable systems that meet client requirements.

Role, responsibility and objectives



The responsibilities include:



Lead and oversee mechanical design for large-scale data centers, including medium and low-voltage distribution, standby/emergency power systems, and UPS configurations. Develop and review system concepts, load calculations, equipment selections, and distribution strategies for air- and liquid-cooled environments. Lead the design of HVAC, chilled water, and air distribution systems for large-scale data centers. Work closely with CFD modelers to define modeling assumptions, review boundary conditions, validate results, and translate airflow and thermal analyses into practical design decisions Collaborate with electrical and architectural teams to ensure fully integrated designs. Develop mechanical equipment specifications, including CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, and pumps. Support project delivery from conceptual design to construction and commissioning. Perform load calculations, airflow modeling, and energy efficiency analyses. Manage projects through all phases--from conceptual design to construction and commissioning. Coordinate with clients, vendors, and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery. Prepare, review, and stamp mechanical drawings, ensuring compliance with NEC, and local building codes. Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality control to junior engineers and design teams. Conduct root cause analysis to troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing systems.

Qualifications



Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering. Possesses strong of computational fluid dynamics knowledge Willingness to obtain licensure in other U.S. states as needed. 10+ years of experience, preferably with mission-critical or data center projects exceeding 10MW. Experience with full lifecycle and proficiency at completing tasks to meet associated milestones, with a focus on system design and project management. Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards, local codes, and mechanical system modeling tools. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and relevant HVAC design software. Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Knowledge of industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical engineering and demonstrates expertise in various technical areas of industrial projects. Proven experience in electrical engineering Familiarity with electrical engineering principles is advantageous for interdisciplinary collaboration. Experience with advanced cooling systems (liquid cooling, economization, etc.). Understanding of sustainability and energy optimization strategies. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and debugging techniques. Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical and mechanical diagrams, and standard operating procedures. Experience designing air- or water-cooled systems for high-heat density applications. Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME B31.1 & B31.3. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
