Macrodyne Technologies Inc. is a leading designer and manufacturer of large hydraulic presses, fully automated hydraulic press lines and related die handling equipment serving manufacturing companies in the automotive, aerospace, consumer, and industrial product sectors.
We are currently searching for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with the ability to lead and participate in the mechanical design of presses, retrofits, automated manufacturing cells and lines.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate must be an experienced (5-10 years minimum) Mechanical Engineer with a good understanding of machine design along with a solid foundation in design detailing, assembly review, and drawing checking. An ability to design and review a machine part or assembly, and discern how to manufacture it using best practices in fabrication and machine shop methods. A working understanding of motion power systems (hydraulic, pneumatics and electrical), and safety requirements would be desirable.
The successful candidate will become a member of the Macrodyne Mechanical team, and must be capable of working with a multi-disciplined team of seasoned and junior engineers in the Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Quality departments, shop personnel, and service crews towards common project goals. These goals include quality, customer, budgetary, and schedule expectations.
There will be occasional travel throughout Canada, the US, and internationally. Valid travel documents are mandatory.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Using customer specifications as starting point, work with engineers and designers to generate 3D models using Solidworks.
Produces high-quality detail models and drawings from sketches, provided within customer specifications within project allotted time. Final design to follow industry standard conventions, company best practices and be complete & accurate.
Produce standard designs using SolidWorks and create assembly prints, mechanical drawings, weld fabrication drawings, associated BOMs and any technical documentation related to the product.
Create designs in line with company procedure, regulations, and client standards.
Submit drawings to senior engineers and manufacturing teams.
Ensures quality, cost and delivery commitments on projects are met.
Work on schedule and within the budget on all mechanical aspects of the project and manage own time for maximum efficiency.
Provide all information to support procurement of all mechanical related components, entering data into MRP system (Total ETO).
Capable of writing technical documents in English at an engineering level.
Demonstrated technical problem-solving abilities through experiments, analysis and systematic methods, technical documentation is essential.
Must be capable of understanding mechanism design, dimensioning complex geometry, measurement standards and materials requirements.
Knowledge in systematic engineering design process to meet functional requirement.
Candidate must have a minimum of a BSE or BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technologist education.
Knowledge in ISO 9001 Quality assurance systems in a Design and manufacturing production organisation desired.
Understanding of a manufacturing environment including engineering design procedures and able to train production staff members to commission new processes and equipment.
Strong and self-motivated team player, willing to learn new equipment and processes. Self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative. Strong written and verbal communications skills, writing technical documents in English at an engineering level.
Good reaction to all technical and job-related challenges.
Perform other engineering tasks as instructed.
Occasional travel throughout Canada, the US, and internationally.

8 hour shift, Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend and overtime may be required.
Work Location: In person at Vaughan, Ontario location. After probation, a work from home schedule based on company policies is available.
