Job Overview



Role core purpose:

Transom is a fast-growing HVAC product manufacturing company based in Barrie that specializes in developing heat pump equipment for the emerging market of low-carbon domestic hot water systems. We are currently expanding our design and development team and are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with refrigeration design experience. This position offers a unique opportunity for the candidate to be an integral part of the core development team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. As a key member of the design team, you will have the chance to work on and take ownership of various aspects of Transom's new equipment design.

Position Responsibilities

Develop new product designs based on in-house testing and evaluation Calculate anticipated system performance for heat pump systems Create SolidWorks models for complete assembly from components Generate accurate bills of materials, technical drawings and details for sales literature Source and evaluate new components, and evaluate new vendors Work with all departments to gain feed back throughout product development and future refinement Ensure compliance with applicable agency standards Develop assembly procedures; perform and evaluate tests of components and final assemblies Prepare test reports and recommendations for process improvements Evaluate the design in the final product format and functionality with the end user Support production, sales and service personnel in a team environment

Qualifications & Skills



Education: Mechanical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering Degree

Demonstrated competency in product development for manufacturing

5+ years experience with design of commercial refrigeration systems

Experience working with R744, A2L and A3 refrigerants is beneficial

Competency using SolidWorks 3D software is beneficial

Competency using Microsoft Office products
