Hatch's Vancouver Project Delivery Group (PDG) is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer graduate to be part of our engineering team. The role will focus on mining and mineral processing projects with opportunities to support other sectors as well. The Junior Mechanical Designer is broadly responsible for working with Senior Designers, Engineers and Project Leads to develop the mechanical 3D Model, 2D drawings and provide support to discipline engineers and construction teams.

The PDG Mechanical Group is a Hatch global practice providing Mechanical design expertise to a wide variety of Hatch's business practices. Our capability spans through the whole project lifecycle comprising; scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, detailed engineering and construction support. The group supports mineral processing, energy, and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, general arrangement drawings of facilities and processes.
• Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups
• Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.
• Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.
• Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities
• Perform field verification, and provide field support during construction

Education and Experience:

• Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated, with a 2 year Diploma from technical college with focus on Engineering, Design, 3D Modelling and 2D Drafting.
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
• Previous relevant co-op and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping design is an asset
• Academic or work experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley MicroStation, OpenPlant or Design Review CAD software is an asset.
• Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities is considered an asset
