The primary responsibility will be to design and draw Fiberglass Reinforced Products (FRP) such as waste water systems, customized FRP assemblies, and high tolerance machined parts. Training on these parts will be provided by the Engineering Manager. These designs will lead the manufacturing of parts and the design engineering will work with the manufacturing team to ensure that the parts designed are fabricated to print.
This position includes project work which will lead to the improvement of the part manufacturing and process improvements as well. There may be additional work assigned, depending on the workload at Protectolite. The goal of this role is to learn how to get a basic understanding of FRP products that Protectolite produces and help develop the next generation of products in our industry.
Job Responsibilities:
Use CAD (Solid Works) to design FRP components and assemblies as directed by the Engineering Manager
Complete and review detailed construction drawings
Communicate with customers, agents, and operators to ensure scope of work is accurate and complete.
Ensure Bill of Material is correct and the prices are updated
Engage suppliers on a regular basis to get updated pricing and delivery
Ensure documentation required for the customer is accurate and complete, also develop way to improve the documentation process
Participate in production scheduling meeting to help with the priorities at Protectolite
Propose ideas for production improvement at the Shop Floor
Use Fundamental Engineering Concepts to improve product development
Learn about the composite business and manufacturing as a whole.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
Make Protectolite a work safe environment
Job Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability or desire to learn 3D Design Software, Ideally Solidworks
Must have a willingness to learn about composite manufacturing
Experience in using fundamental engineering principles
Experience in making improvements to current processes
Ability to learn new skills and adopt best practices
Education:
Engineering Degree from accredited University
3 Year College Diploma in Engineering
Or Equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge Skills and Experience:
Two to Five years experience in design with CAD software
Experience from Foreign Country is acknowledged and welcomed
Highly Motivated and results oriented.
Ability to lead a project through team activities
In-depth knowledge of Computer Systems
Good communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
