Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer on our engineering services team, you will develop innovative technical solutions.
Responsibilities

• Prepare and review project deliverables such as plans, reports, drawings, analyses, and others within Mechanical and Systems Engineering to provide quality service to internal and external customers.
• Provide ongoing support for existing and new designs, including product conceptual designs, 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, technical instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Conduct design checks, support the creation of redlines, and facilitate sign-off through production.
• Support various design review meetings (SRR, ERR, PDR, CDR, change boards, etc.).
• Collaborate across Engineering Functions, including Electrical and Manufacturing.
• Serve as the liaison between project management and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Monitor systems, processes, and practices within technical areas to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Drive new ideas to cut costs, enhance quality, boost productivity, and ensure timely delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee a small number of engineers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 7+ years of Mechanical design experience, owning a design from conceptualization through to product release.
• Proven experience integrating COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) products into designs.
• Experience with design-to-cost and design for manufacturing and assembly.
• Strong skills in design, COTS, custom solutions, supplier management, DFM, weldment, sheet metal, welding, and machining.

This is a position based out of Ottawa, Ontario but open to remote candidates.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
