Job Description

Our client, an industry leader in automated manufacturing equipment, is seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their team. As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of the Manufacturing Department supporting the assembly and commissioning of high-speed automated machinery. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Mechanical Assembly Technician
Location: Markham, ON
Pay Range:
Shift: Monday-Thursday 6:30am-4:00pm, Friday 6:30am-3:00pm OR Monday-Thursday 3:30pm-1:00am, Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm (afternoon shift includes a 10% shift premium)
What's the Job?

  • Assemble precision machine components, including some machining of parts such as milling, turning, and surface grinding
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, assembly drawings, and pneumatic schematics accurately
  • Move, stage, and install heavy parts and assemblies using proper lifting and rigging techniques
  • Participate in machine start-up, testing, debugging, and commissioning processes
  • Support on-site installation and troubleshooting of machinery at various locations
What's Needed?
  • College Degree or Certificate in Mechanical Technology, Toolmaking, Machining, Millwright, completed apprenticeship, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in assembly of custom automated machinery or precision mechanical assembly
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and pneumatic diagrams
  • Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other lifting equipment
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as Vernier calipers and micrometers (tolerance of 0.0254mm / 0.001")
