The City of Corner Brook is presently accepting applications for the full-time temporary position of

Mechanic

to join its Fleet Maintenance Team within the Department of Engineering, Development and Operational Services.

Reporting to the Mechanical Foreperson or their designate, the Mechanic is responsible for all repairs on equipment used by the City of Corner Brook including tandem and single axle trucks, heavy equipment, automotive, and small engines. This position is also responsible for inspecting and carrying out preventative maintenance of equipment; troubleshooting projects; using scan tools, diagnostic equipment, and various other tools; and other related duties as assigned.

The successful applicant must possess a Journeyperson's Certificate any of; Automotive Service Technician, Truck and Transport Mechanic, or Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and be in good standing and Registered with the Government of Newfoundland & Labrador, supplemented with at least 1 year of Journeyperson work experience. A standard toolbox equipped with up to and including a basic inch drive tool set is required in addition to a valid Class 5 Newfoundland and Labrador Driver's License with air brake endorsement.

Automotive, emergency response vehicles and heavy equipment experience, as well as fleet experience would be a definite asset. Training in Occupational Health and Safety and other related fields would also be considered assets.
