Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Meat Cutter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the food industry and a strong commitment to food safety and quality. As a Meat Cutter, you will be responsible for preparing, cutting, and packaging various types of meat products while ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen. This role also focuses on the presentation of both meats and seafood for sale with efficient and precise packaging of items. This is a very service-orientated position providing courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and legendary service to customers and fellow team members.

•Open Availability on Weekends and Evening Availability on Weekdays. •

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform meat cutting and preparation tasks according to established guidelines and recipes.
• Ensure all meat products are cut to specification, packaged properly, and labeled accurately.
• Weigh, wrap, and display meat & seafood products
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, adhering to food safety standards and all company procedures to ensure food safety.
• Assist customers with their meat selections, providing knowledgeable recommendations and exceptional service.
• Monitor inventory levels of meat products and communicate needs for replenishment.
• Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and preparation.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operations within the kitchen environment.
• Ensure accurate retail pricing and signage.
• Informed of new products introduced and share with the customers.
• Ensure back areas and coolers well maintained, organized and dated.
• Demonstrate proper use, care and maintenance of equipment.
• Perform other duties delegated by team leaders and store leaders.
• Knowledge of primal cuts.
• Passion for fresh foods.
• Customer service orientated
• Self-motivated and problem solver.
• Some Math skills.
• Familiar with digi scale operation considered an asset

Requirements

• Open availability to meet the needs of the schedule (weekends included)
• Previous customer service experience asset.
• WHIMS certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)
• Food Safety certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)

Working Conditions:

• Standing and/or walking for?extended?periods?of time.
• Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
• Caution while working?with?meat cutters and machinery and sharp knives.
• May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
• Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
• Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.

Experience

• Previous experience in meat cutting or as a butcher is preferred but not mandatory.

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Experience in food preparation within a kitchen or food industry setting is advantageous.
• A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and cleanliness in all tasks performed.
