The opportunity:



The Manitoba Centre for Nursing and Health Research (MCNHR) is seeking a Research Assistant to support the MAGNETS (Manitoba Graduate Nurses Employment Survey) project. This grant-funded, continuing part-time role (28 hours/week) supports province-wide survey coordination with nursing graduates across multiple programs and institutions in Manitoba.

The Research Assistant will assist with day-to-day project operations, including survey distribution and follow-up, data tracking and organization, documentation management, and preparation of reports, infographics, and presentations, while working with tools such as Qualtrics, Excel, and SPSS and adhering to ethics and confidentiality requirements. This role is well suited to a detail-oriented candidate with strong organizational and communication skills and an interest in applied health research and workforce studies.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



Completion of an undergraduate degree in health sciences, social sciences, statistics, or related field is required. Master's degree is preferred. One year of direct related experience is preferred. Proven proficiency in use of microcomputers and related software, in particular with Microsoft Office suite of program and data management and analysis programs, such as SPSS required; experience with R or Python is an asset. Experience with online surveys and the survey software (e.g., Qualtrics), bibliography/citation software (e.g., Mendeley) is required. Experience with the University of Manitoba's Research Administrative Systems (RAS) or similar research administrative systems is required. Experience with drafting technical reports, brief non-technical reports for communities, academic publications and presentations, and other written documents as requested is required. Must be familiar with confidentiality, ethics and security issues related to research essential. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Excellent English oral and written communication skills are required. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others is required. Must be able to pay attention to detail. Good organizational skills required. Must be able to work within time and budget constraints Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently. Ability and willingness to learn new processes and techniques required. Must be comfortable working in person and in a shared open concept research lab setting. Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
