Position description


The Pierre Lassonde School of Fine Arts at Mount Allison University invites applications for the McCain Post Doc Teaching Fellow in Art History for a one-year term appointment commencing July 1, 2023, subject to budgetary approval. Candidates for this position will have completed a PhD within the past seven years (2016 or later) and should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching and learning and working collegially within a fine arts department. Teaching responsibilities will include in-person teaching two courses per semester. The Fall 2023 term courses are ARTH 2101 (Introduction to Art History) and ARTH 3051 (Twentieth Century Art to 1940.) The Winter 2024 semester courses are ARTH/MUSE 2111 (Contexts of Art and Museum Culture) and ARTH 3061 (Modern Art from 1940 to 1970.) These courses are core courses in the Art History and Museum and Curatorial Studies curriculum, and they all require three contact hours of class time per week. The Pierre Lassonde School is located in the Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts, a purpose-built facility on the Mount Allison campus. The Owens Art Gallery is an important support to the School on campus, with a program of contemporary and historical exhibitions and visiting artists\xe2\x80\x99 presentations.
