Maitres d'hotel

Southern Lakes Resort is an off-grid property, remotely located approx. 1.5hrs Southeast of Whitehorse, YT.

We are looking to expand our team by adding a versatile, reliable, punctual and dedicated person as a Maitres d'hotel. We are open from end of May to mid-October and from December to the beginning of April

Main duties are:

- Accept and record restaurant and cabin bookings via email and telephone

- Receive and record patrons' reservations and assign tables

- Greet patrons and escort them to tables or other seating areas

- Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and attend to complaints

- Order dining room supplies and equipment

- Inspect dining and serving areas and equipment

- Supervise and coordinate activities of food and beverage servers and other serving staff

- Accept payment from patrons for food and beverages

- Maintain financial statements and records

- Prepare work schedules

- Interview candidates for food and beverage server positions and train new employees

- Hotel check-ins, check-outs, bookings

- Organizing guest tours

Requirements

Education:

- Completion of secondary school

Experiences:

- experience as a Maitres d'hotel

- experience as a formal or captain waiter/waitress

- Coordinating and team leading events

Languages:

English

Specific skills:

- Understanding of remote operations and familiar with Northern climate

- Understanding and previous exposure to other cultures (Europe, South America, far East)

- Candidate must be able to organize and execute work independently, maintain departmental standards and follow health and safety procedures. Training in health and safety is an asset.

Personal skills:

Effective interpersonal skills; flexibility; excellent oral communication; reliability; organized, used to working under stress.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Seasonal

Pay: $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
