We are seeking an enthusiastic, qualified, and experienced Mathematics Teacher to join our team. This unique role involves teaching math across both the Elementary and Secondary divisions, working with students from diverse age groups and skill levels. The ideal candidate possesses deep familiarity with the Ontario Mathematics Curriculum and has a proven track record/experience of preparing students for various local and international math contests.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Delivery: Develop and deliver engaging, high-quality math instruction aligned with the Ontario Curriculum (specifically, Grades K-8 and Grades 9-12).
Differentiated Instruction: Implement differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of all learners, from foundational concepts in elementary school to advanced calculus and vectors in the secondary panel.
Contest Preparation: Lead and mentor students for participation in major Ontario and global mathematics competitions (e.g., Kangaroo Math, Spirit of Math Contest, CEMC Contests like the Gauss, Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, and Euclid; or global events like the AMC series).
Assessment and Evaluation: Utilize a range of assessment techniques (as per Growing Success) to track student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow educators to integrate mathematics across subjects and contribute to curriculum development.
Student Support: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in mathematics.
Qualifications and Experience
Certification: Valid teaching certification recognized in Ontario with qualifications to teach at both the Elementary and Secondary levels in Mathematics would be an asset.
Curriculum Expertise: Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Education's Mathematics Curriculum for all relevant grade levels (K-12).
Contest Experience: Experience coaching, preparing, or personally participating in provincial or international math competitions is a significant asset.
Pedagogical Skills: Proficiency in using instructional technology and employing innovative pedagogical approaches to make mathematics accessible and exciting.
