The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting a

Materiel Management Equipment Operator

to fill a permanent full-time position. The Materiel Management Equipment Operator performs equipment operating duties:


to receive, offload, and manage material at the Civic Yards aggregate yard, salt tent and aggregate recycling facility as required. Cleans and organizes the Civic Yards materiel storage yard including the aggregate products, storage areas, Sand/Salt tent and waste materials. Maintenance of facility and equipment to facilitate efficient operation and a safe working environment. Working knowledge of the Materiel Management Inventory module to create and expedite inventory orders and administer inventory policies and procedures. Performs various labouring and other Materiel Management duties as assigned. Provides high quality service to internal customers, haul truck contractors and other facility users.

As our preferred candidate, you will have:




Grade 12 education. Two years of directly related experience operating Class 3 type equipment for the purpose of managing and transporting various raw aggregate materials. Must be experienced in the operation, maintenance and safe operating procedures for forklift truck, loader and conveyor operations, maintenance and safe operating procedures One year of directly related experience including directing warehouse and stores operations, inventory control and materiel management activities for a large organization. Previous experience with JD Edwards inventory software would be an asset. Valid Class 3 Alberta Driver's License with Q endorsement, with a clean abstract. Valid First Aid certificate. Ability to work with some independence. Ability to safely operate assigned heavy equipment with a high level of skill. Ability to perform routine maintenance on various forklift trucks, other material handling equipment, and general maintenance for Stores equipment Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel). Knowledge of inventory principles and procedures as applied in a computer warehouse and stores environment. Ability to organize and prioritise and process information within tight deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with fellow staff and provide direction and feedback regarding performance of duties. Ability to work with independence. Ability to understand and follow detailed inventory procedures accurately. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with the public and employees Must be in good physical condition to be able to exert moderate to high physical effort in lifting and moving heavy objects and to work in fatiguing and/or awkward positions that may be subject to vibrations (e.g. driving over rough or uneven ground). Must be able to work outside in all types of weather and in disagreeable working conditions which may include exposure to dust, grease, noise, odours and chemicals.

Remuneration:



$36.30 to $38.21 per hour


Hours of Work:



80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some scheduled on-call rotation is required with some possible overtime.
