Equipment Operators - Winter Operations

Location: Bancroft, Ontario

Hours: 20-40+ hours per week (hours vary by season and weather conditions)

Wage: $18 - $24.00 per hour, based on experience and skills

Position Summary

We are currently seeking Equipment Operators to join our winter operations team. This is a hands-on position requiring skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work in challenging weather conditions. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely operating a range of vehicles and machinery used for snow removal, sanding, and ice control. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and takes pride in doing quality work -- even in tough weather conditions. This position offers the opportunity to work independently while being part of a supportive and coordinated team that ensures roadways, parking lots, and walkways remain safe and accessible throughout the winter.

Key Responsibilities

Safely operate and maintain snow and ice control equipment, including truck-mounted plows and sanders, loaders, tractors, and UTVs with various attachments.

Operate snow blowers and other small equipment as required.

Perform manual snow and ice removal (e.g., shovelling, spreading salt/sand).

Complete pre and post-shift equipment inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.

Maintain detailed and accurate records including activity logs, timesheets, and incident reports.

Follow company safety policies and comply with all occupational health and safety standards.

Respond promptly to weather events, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Work collaboratively with other team members and communicate clearly with supervisors and clients.

Represent Madawaska Management in a courteous and professional manner when interacting with customers or the public.

Qualifications and Requirements

Valid Class G Driver's Licence with a clean driving abstract (required).

Demonstrated experience operating heavy or snow removal equipment (loaders, plows, tractors, etc.).

Physically able to lift up to 20 kg (salt bags and materials) and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately and complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Reliable, punctual, and willing to work flexible hours based on weather conditions.

Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of equipment maintenance are considered assets.

Familiarity with Bancroft and surrounding areas is an advantage.

Working Conditions

This position involves outdoor work in cold, snowy, and icy conditions. Shifts may include overnight, weekend, and holiday hours depending on snowfall and weather forecasts. Equipment Operators must be prepared to respond quickly to changing conditions and maintain a professional, safety-conscious approach at all times.
