who is responsible for leading the facility materials & logistics operations to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate movement of raw materials and finished goods. This leadership position plays a critical part in meeting customer delivery requirements, supporting just-in-time manufacturing, and maintaining compliance with company standards for quality, safety, and cost control and continuous improvement initiatives. The Materials Supervisor will actively manage a fast-paced team, and play a key role in fostering a positive and efficient work environment while aligning with company standards and goals. Must be able to be collaborative in our automotive paint plant environment and ensure strong coordination with production, paint, quality, and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily logistics operations, ensuring customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer specifications and automotive industry standards.
Supervise material flow, inspection, and storage of incoming raw materials, paint products, and production supplies.
Schedule and assign work for material team members to meet production and delivery requirements.
Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal logistics to optimize cost and service.
Responsible for all logistics & warehouse material flow for the entire facility (internally & externally.
Responsible for all documentation required (BOLs, customs, packing slips, ASN, etc.); to ensure all are accurate and submitted on time.
Work closely with Production, Quality, and Scheduling to resolve shipping delays, inventory discrepancies, or packaging issues.
Maintain inventory accuracy through proper use of ERP/MRP systems and cycle count processes.
Enforce company health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring compliance with Ontario legislation.
Train, coach, and develop team members to build skills, engagement, and accountability.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and quality performance in logistics.
Monitor and report key metrics, including on-time delivery, shipping accuracy, freight spend, and labour utilization.
Qualifications & Skills
Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Minimum 3-5 years of Logistics / Materials experience in a manufacturing or automotive environment, with 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role.
Advanced knowledge and experience with Material Movement and Inventory streams.
Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, customs requirements, and shipping documentation.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Forklift license/certification and experience with material handling equipment is an asset.

Prefer minimum 3-5 years of supervisory or similar leadership experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive or industrial preferred).
Knowledge of production/quality processes and manufacturing principles helpful
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with production reporting systems.
