The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewReporting to the Manager, Warehouse and Traffic, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the scheduled and non-scheduled activities of the Transporters as described in procedures. The Materials Dispatcher provides direction to Transporters in the assembly and placement of supplies, equipment and materials for delivery and pick up, the relocation of office and patient furnishing as well as sets up for meetings. Continuously reviews transport requirements and sets priorities.Experience

  • Three years previous experience working in a hospital warehouse required.
  • Experience in the operation of motorized material handling equipment required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba standards, required.
  • Customer service training preferred.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Must possess a current certificate from the Manitoba Safety Council or equivalent certificate for the Low Lift Pallet Mover Operator.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be familiar with purchasing and receiving documents.
  • Knowledge of the HSC complex required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills required. It is expected that the individual conduct his/herself in a manner that is consistent with the customer service approach.
  • As Supply & Distribution Services is a custodian of HSC's goods, it is critical that the individual brings with them the qualities of honesty and integrity.
Physical Requirements
  • Position requires considerable bending, stretching, walking, pushing and lifting.
  • Repetitive lifting of boxes containing I.V.'s (30 lbs.).
  • May be required to work in cramped conditions (compactor area, incinerator).
  • Requires pushing or pulling carts and palettes that may weigh up to 2100 pounds across carpets and hard surface flooring, off and on elevators, up and down ramps.
  • Required to handle hazardous/dangerous goods in accordance with WHMIS regulations.
  • Exposure to temperature variations (i.e. moves at Finance building).
