We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Materials Handler to join our dynamic team in the fenestration industry. This role is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the facility. Working closely with production, shipping, and inventory control teams, the Materials Handler plays a key role in supporting manufacturing operations and ensuring timely order fulfillment.
The ideal candidate is a team player with experience in a manufacturing or construction materials environment--preferably involving window and door systems, aluminum extrusions, screens, vinyl components.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Load, unload, and transfer materials using
forklifts
, pallet jacks, dollies, or by hand, ensuring proper stacking and secure placement.
Transport raw materials (e.g., vinyl profiles, aluminum frames, glass units) from staging areas to workstations or storage locations.
Move completed window and door units from production to the shipping dock or designated holding areas.
Accurately scan and track inventory movements using ERP/barcode systems.
Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle counts as needed.
Report low stock levels or material discrepancies to the Inventory or Production team.
Receive incoming deliveries, inspect for damage or inconsistencies, and match with purchase orders.
Assist in preparing shipments by picking, packing, labeling, and staging products for delivery.
Follow all company safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Comply with all regulatory standards, including WHMIS, OSHA, and internal company policies.
Support production staff with just-in-time material deliveries.
Communicate with supervisors regarding material shortages, delays, or quality concerns.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or construction-related industry.
Prior experience in fenestration or building materials is highly preferred.
Proficient in reading work orders, packing slips, and inventory documentation.
Experience order picking and using an order picker
Basic math skills and inventory management
Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely (license or certification preferred).
Knowledge of clamps is a plus
Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems is a strong asset.
Mechanical aptitude for equipment maintenance
Attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and stand/walk for extended periods.
Manual dexterity required for handling materials and using tools.
Comfortable working in varying temperatures, depending on warehouse or plant environment.
Capable of bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling loads as needed.
