Reporting to the Vice President and Office Manager, the material handler/driver delivers material to and from jobsites. A Material Handler/Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation, loading, and unloading of materials between job sites and vendor locations. This role involves driving company vehicle, ensuring material accuracy, maintaining vehicle logs, and supporting warehouse operations as needed. Must have a valid driver's license and present a driving record abstract.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Safely operate company vehicles (e.g., pickup trucks, box trucks, flatbeds) to deliver and pick up materials at various locations.
Load and unload materials using proper handling equipment and ensure materials are secured for transport.
Verify contents of deliveries against packing slips or purchase orders; report any discrepancies or damage.
Perform routine inspections of vehicles to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
Maintain accurate driving logs, mileage reports, and delivery documentation.
Assist with general warehouse duties, such as organizing inventory, stocking shelves, and keeping the warehouse clean and orderly.
Communicate with dispatch, warehouse staff, and job site personnel to coordinate delivery schedules and address issues.
Comply with all OSHA, and company safety regulations and procedures.
Use manual or any other computerized inventory system if needed and prepare requisition orders to replenish tools, material, and supplies
Maintain and oversee the receipt, storage, requisitioning and disbursement of tooling, material, spare parts, lubricants, and various shop supplies
Responsible to check the tools and material before they go to site for proper operating conditions and organize all tools for upcoming jobs
Distribute tools, material, and supplies for internal usage and maintain records of orders and the amount
Maintain the job boxes that are to be sent to site with the appropriate tools by trade and the list of standard components that are to be in that box
Organize repairs for service trucks
Tools that are returned are to be tagged out of service and either sent for repair or replacement, then counted and restocked
Deliver equipment, tools, material, and miscellaneous items from the shop to the site
Pick-up tools, leftover material and miscellaneous items from site, pick- up site garbage as requested from site
Responsible to keep the shop clean and shelving organized
Responsible to maintain the shop washroom cleaning and supplies replenished as needed
Maintain salting and sanding of the ramp at the delivery ramp for safety
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, may be required to obtain driving abstract
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, kneel and reach overhead
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a team setting with other personnel to ensure that support is there to ensure tools are available for production
Must possess strong multitasking and organizational skills
Ability to consistently work safely and maintain a safe work environment
Previous experience in delivery driving, material handling, or warehouse operations
Basic knowledge of inventory systems and paperwork/documentation
Special Requirements:
Must be able to work flexible and extended hours as required.
