Employees perform basic materials handling activities within clearly defined procedures and standards that are required for the operation of the warehouse. This includes shipping, receiving, issuing, expediting and maintaining all stock and materials in stores. Employees will also conduct pre-shifts on the material handling equipment.

Inventory management and control includes being involved in the work and administration processes relating to the handling of inventory transactions, keeping track of items stored in the warehouse, and the techniques used to balance inventory levels with present and forecasted needs, ensuring inventory accuracy is maximized through monitoring, analysis and investigation of discrepancies and participation in cycle counts of physical inventory.

What You Get to Do:

Under the close/direct supervision of the Supervisor and/or direction of a Stockkeeper, this position performs basic materials handling activities related to the operation of a warehouse facility.

Typical duties may include but are not limited to assisting with:

  • Receiving goods and materials that have been procured for current or future use.
  • Shipping goods and materials from the warehouse to other locations or on-site.
  • Sorting all salvage material for disposal or sale and preparing returns of surplus goods or materials to suppliers.
  • Maintaining the warehouse, yard and associated buildings in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Filling and preparing orders for materials ordered for work orders.
  • Performing cycle counts on a weekly/monthly or annual basis to ensure that stock levels are kept at an economic operating level.
  • Operating and conduct pre-shift on the material handling equipment i.e. forklifts used in operating the warehousing facility.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through the issuing and returning of stock.
  • Provide support to customers requesting materials and/or services at the warehouse counter.
  • Work in a combination of office, warehouse and warehouse yard environments.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Willingness and ability to complete courses in general warehousing and logistics certification.
  • Must obtain ATCO Electric forklift operator certification.
  • Must obtain certification in standard First Aid, TDG and WHMIS.
  • 1 year of related warehousing experience.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Valid vehicle operator's license.
