Material Handler

Full Time, Weekend Day Shift (7:00 am to 7:30pm)



The Material Handler is responsible for material handling functions throughout the plant or warehouse ensuring that all materials are stored and organized in proper storage areas in preparation for morning production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Responsible daily for material handling functions throughout the plant Responsible for verification of requisitions for accuracy of product and accurate count Responsible for delivery of materials to staging area for inspection Ensure proper reporting of any discrepancies of materials and maintain inventory records using RF Smart scanners Responsible for preparation of the mainline assembly workstations with validating the raw materials Delivery of the wrappers to designated assembly lines as they become available from the metal shop Dispense metal materials to their home locations as they become available from the metal shop Consolidate any packaging at the package station to clear clutter and maintain 5S Consolidate skids and cardboard spacers to their home locations and dock area Responsible for wrapping any finished goods and stage on dock for transportation to warehouse Responsible for the inventory accuracy/organization both throughout the plant/warehouse and in delegated areas, monitoring inventory levels reporting shortages to procurement Must have forklift experience and responsible for daily safety check of forklift and vehicles and to safely drive equipment in a safe manner Responsible for timely delivery of materials Responsible to report any damages done to equipment or materials in a timely manner Responsible for managing appropriate inventory of skids To work co-operatively and communicate effectively with co-workers Seeking direction as needed from Warehouse Supervisor, Production Leaders and co-workers Must be able to respond to tight deadlines during regular and peak periods and to last minute demands and requirements; many short-term competing deadlines/subject to many interruptions

Qualifications & Education



Minimum 1-2 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or manufacturing environment Post-secondary education in logistics or manufacturing an asset Basic computer skills with familiarity in ERP or warehouse management systems Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in verifying materials and counts Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards
